venison dinner

One of the easiest meals to make is cubed steak.  The bonus is you can do it all in one skillet.  I start with fresh garlic  and onions and peppers.   I always spray my skillet with olive oil  to prevent sticking and then add a tablespoon  of good olive oil.  I sauté the garlic and onions until translucent.  Season to taste with salt and pepper.   I remove them and stir in some colorful peppers.   Since I like my food spicy, I add a hot red pepper to give it that zing.  When the pepper are sautéed, I add some shitake mushrooms and sauté.   I add  the onions and garlic so that all the flavors blend together.  Once the vegetables are sautéed,  I remove from the pan and  I add a bit more olive oil and place the cubed steak in the pan and proceed to brown it in the skillet already seasoned with the oil from the vegetables.   Make sure you sear the steak  and cook to your preferred temperature.  (I like mine medium well.)  I then add the vegetables over the venison and let all the flavors blend together.  I don’t put a lid on the pan as to keep that nice sear.

You can serve this all on its own or pair it up with mashed cauliflower or mashed potatoes and a fresh salad.  Yum!
