Caroline and Austin’s Engagement Photo
For my subscribers who are not on social media, you may have been wondering where I have been over the past month or so as I have not been posting on my blog as much as I usually do. My passion for outdoor adventures is still alive and well, but at this time, I am deeply entrenched in one of the most wonderful events a mother has to look forward to… the wedding of her daughter! In less than 2 weeks, my sweet Caroline and her amazing fiancé, Austin Thomas will be married in a setting that is nothing less than magical, Brookgreen Gardens located in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina! What location would be more perfect than a wildlife preserve and the largest outdoor sculpture garden in the country for my daughter’s big day?

Mother of the Bride
Located along the scenic Waccamaw River, the natural and cultivated landscape is nothing less than amazing with its ancient oaks draped in moss, majestic magnolias, and giant pines. I have to admit that I was a bit distracted when we were there recently working on wedding plans, as a flock of wild turkeys working their way around the grounds caught my eye! You can imagine what I was thinking …Taking to the outdoors is something that I can’t get enough of, and there is nothing like grabbing your camera and capturing the beauty of this very special place!
A little bit about the incredible history of Brookgreen Gardens – It was founded by Archer and Anna Hyatt Huntington, opened in 1932 and was the perfect place to display Anna and her sister’s sculpture. Four former rice plantations made up the original track taking its name from the former Brookgreen Plantation and encompasses over 9100 acres. There is so much beauty there with over 2000 works of American figurative sculpture which are displayed at the Archer and Anna Hyatt Huntington Sculpture Garden!
Here is a link where you can check out the many year round activities that are available to visitors and much more about this historical landmark, the gardens, the sculpture and native animals of the low country that make Brookgreen Gardens their home. https://www.brookgreen.org
I won’t disclose the particulars of Caroline and Austin’s wedding, but I can assure you, the setting for the ceremony will be breathtaking! SO EXCITED!!!
Congratulations to you and your family. May you enjoy every moment of this very special time. Wishing all the best to the soon to be newlyweds.
